(Pittsfield, Mass.) The City of Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District has a way to cure those winter blues this February; the sixth annual 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival, presented by Berkshire Gas, featuring a lively array of music, art, theatre, dance, comedy, film, play, fireworks and more from February 16-26, 2017 in the heart of the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

Organized by the City of Pittsfield’s Office of Cultural Development and Barrington Stage Company, the festival features more than 50 events and highlights dozens of artists, actors, musicians, playwrights and performers.  The 10X10 festival kicks off on Thursday, February 16 with three events:  10 Spot: Photography, a dual exhibition featuring 10 pieces from 10 photographers from around the country; Through the Historic Lens: 10 Pittsfield Perspectives,  a collaborative exhibit between the Berkshire Historical Society and the Berkshire Athenaeum and the first preview night of Barrington Stage’s 10X10 New Play Festival.

“Winter’s chill is no match against the vibrant 10×10 Upstreet Arts Festival that will warm city nights with an exciting showcase of theater, dance, poetry, and music,” stated Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer.  “This festival, in its sixth year, continues to put a spotlight on Pittsfield’s creativity and artistry so be sure to mark your calendars and enjoy the very best of our great city.”

10 Spot: Photography is a dual exhibit featuring 100 photographs: 10 photographs by 10 artists on view at the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts and Sohn Fine Art Gallery in Lenox.  The exhibits highlight each photographer’s conceptual and aesthetic vision. With mostly emerging photographers, the show reveals their work at a pinnacle point of growth, when their voice has become strong and recognized. The series range from a span of “types” of portrait work and abstractions from literal objects, to serene uninhabited rural landscapes.  Click here for more information.
