Candlelit Evening @ Hancock Shaker Village | Pittsfield | Massachusetts | United States

Experience the magic of an enchanted evening at a Shaker village filled with New England traditions, live music, storytelling, festive foods, candlelight, and caroling. The landscape takes on a magical appearance, decorated in greenery and illuminated by twinkling lights. Stroll by lantern light to the historic 1910 Barn for live music. Meander into the Round Stone Barn to see our young calves (bring your cameras for the cutest photo opportunities), not to mention goats, lambs, pigs, rams, donkeys, and chickens. Wander into the Brick Dwelling for a holiday reading, followed by appetizers, cocktails, and punch for the kids. End by luminaria caroling through the historic village.

Discover Festival of Trees 2018: Often Heard after hours, when the twinkling lights are ablaze on every tree but the galleries are dark. The indoor forest of imaginatively decorated trees festooned with musical motifs offer a dreamy atmosphere during evening hours, and guessing the song title that matches each tree’s décor becomes more of a challenge at night!

Dec 1 @ 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Around India with a Movie Camera @ Berkshire Museum | Pittsfield | Massachusetts | United States

Sandhya Suri skilfully weaves together archive footage to create an emotionally resonant story about life across India pre-1947. Drawn exclusively from the BFI National Archive, Around India features some of the earliest surviving film from India as well as gorgeous travelogues, intimate home movies and newsreels from British, French and Indian filmmakers. Taking in Maharajas and Viceroys, fakirs and farmhands and personalities such as Sabu and Gandhi, the film explores not only the people and places of over 70 years ago, but asks us to engage with broader themes of a shared history, shifting perspectives in the lead up to Indian independence and the ghosts of the past. Around India boasts a superb new score that fuses western and Indian music from composer and sarod player Soumik Datta.
